Sports Performance

Sports Performance at Comal Active uses our signature speed and strength training methods, and cutting-edge coaching techniques from certified sports performance coaches to produce maximum improvements in athletic performance.  At this level, programming is broken down into a specific focus per session.

These are:

  • Linear Speed: Comal Active’s signature straight-ahead acceleration and top-speed running techniques.
  • Multidirectional Movements: Agility and ability to decelerate and move in any direction quickly.
  • Full Body Explosive Strength: Strength training exercises for muscle development and injury prevention.
  • Kinesthetic Awareness: Coordination, balance and the athlete’s innate ability to have both internal and external awareness during activity.

Experts view the ages of 13 – 18 as the most ideal age for developing speed, strength and power over an athlete’s lifetime. It is during this program that the athlete and sports performance coach focus on the detailed, but critical specifics that are the basis for athletic success.

The Sports Performance Program at Comal Active is divided into Sports Performance I and Sports Performance 2. Regardless of the division, the focus for the athlete in this program is developing from a good athlete to a great one!

Sports Performance at Comal Active has been proven to:

  • Improve Speed & Agility
  • Increase Total Body Strength
  • Increase Endurance
  • Improve Flexibility
  • Build Mental Toughness
  • Improve Self-Confidence

Hear what some of our past Comal Active Sports Performance athletes have to say:

Brooke Cousins – Collegiate Soccer

Comal Active helped me to push past my mental barriers and strengthen both my body and my mind. The trainers are extremely helpful and motivational. I have never been so comfortable with feeling so uncomfortable which enabled me to get the most out of my experience and is what really separates Comal Active from any other training I have had.

The Sports Performance class was especially helpful for me because I am a collegiate soccer player. I participated in the class during my off-season to keep in shape, but it did way more than that. Combining strength and speed work was exactly what I needed to make me a better player. I went back into season the most fit I have ever been.

Garrett Egli – Collegiate Baseball

During the fall of my Junior year of High School, I was given the worst news any athlete could receive – I had a stress fracture in my lower back.  The injury would put me in a back brace for the next 16 weeks, and keep me out of baseball for the next nine months.  The news broke my heart after working my tail off in the Comal Active Sports Performance class the summer before.

After months in a back brace, and weeks of physical therapy, my doctor cleared me to resume full activity.  With summer ball about to start, my Senior year in High School fast approaching and with my goal of playing baseball in college, I knew that I had a long road ahead of me.  Hunter, one of the coaches at Comal Active, was one of the first people that I talked to.  I knew Hunter’s background not only as someone who trained athletes - but as an athlete himself.  Hunter and the team’s experience at Comal Active gave me the confidence that I could come back stronger than ever.

The amount of attention and coaching I received at Comal Active is unmatched because they care about each individual athlete.  After working over the summer in  the Elite Sports Performance class, I felt mentally and physically stronger than ever.  I received multiple scholarship offers that summer and my senior season was my best season yet.  On November 11, 2016, I signed to play baseball at Midland College.  I can’t thank Hunter and the rest of the staff enough for helping me get to where I am today.
